Our organisation is dependent on volunteers, all of whom dedicate their time generously to contribute to our success. Each girls in STEM event that we run has a volunteering team, which is comprised of a diverse range of successful and talented WA women working in STEM, and supporters of Women in STEM. They range from young graduates just starting their careers, to technical experts and STEM leaders with a decades of experience. We carefully choose our volunteer team to give a good representation to students of the fields, pathways and industries available to the workforce in WA.
Apart from being a whole lot of fun, becoming a volunteer with The Innovators’ Tea Party provides you with the following opportunities:
- Professional Development: Practice communicating your research or job in simple terms to a younger audience. These skills a transferable when you a selling an idea to a non-technical audience!
- Networking: Our volunteers come from a range of different STEM fields and industries, and all of them are passionate about promoting STEM careers to high school students. In addition to networking on event day, each year we host a thank you event where volunteers are brought together to network and celebrate our shared passion for inspiring the next generation.
- Giving Back: This is a fantastic way to give back to the local community and provide the next generation of technical experts and STEM leaders an insight into the infinite possibilities of a STEM career.
- Recognition: As a Women in STEM Mentor, we will be profiling the amazing work you do not only to students, but also to the wider community. Your career profile will be printed in our digital event program, and we will be showcasing as many of our mentors as possible on our website and social media pages. Showcasing your work and achievements is an integral part of what we do as a charity.

Seeking nominations to join our committee
Our committee govern the organisation, develop strategy and are also actively managing events. In general, committee members have volunteered with us as mentors or event managers before so that they come with a working knowledge of how we operate and what we are trying to achieve. A committee position generally requires a 2 hours’ time commitment per week, majority of which is self-guided and at a time that suits you. All we ask is that when you sign up you do come to the party with those hours! Committee positions are open to people of all genders and backgrounds. Please email us (info@innovatorsteaparty.org) if you are interested in taking your volunteering with TITP to the next level and joining the committee!
