Volunteer

Our organisation is dependent on volunteers, all of whom dedicate their time generously to contribute to our success. Each girls in STEM event that we run has a volunteering team, which is comprised of a diverse range of successful and talented WA women working in STEM, and supporters of Women in STEM. They range from young graduates just starting their careers, to technical experts and STEM leaders with a decades of experience. We carefully choose our volunteer team to give a good representation to students of the fields, pathways and industries available to the workforce in WA.

Apart from being a whole lot of fun, becoming a volunteer with The Innovators’ Tea Party provides you with the following opportunities:

  • Professional Development: Practice communicating your research or job in simple terms to a younger audience. These skills a transferable when you a selling an idea to a non-technical audience!
  • Networking: Our volunteers come from a range of different STEM fields and industries, and all of them are passionate about promoting STEM careers to high school students. In addition to networking on event day, each year we host a thank you event where volunteers are brought together to network and celebrate our shared passion for inspiring the next generation.
  • Giving Back: This is a fantastic way to give back to the local community and provide the next generation of technical experts and STEM leaders an insight into the infinite possibilities of a STEM career.
  • Recognition: As a Women in STEM Mentor, we will be profiling the amazing work you do not only to students, but also to the wider community. Your career profile will be printed in our digital event program, and we will be showcasing as many of our mentors as possible on our website and social media pages. Showcasing your work and achievements is an integral part of what we do as a charity.

Seeking nominations to join our committee

Joining The Innovators’ Tea Party Committee is an amazing opportunity to contribute to the complex social challenge of inspiring more women into STEM studies and careers. Committee members develop a breadth of event planning skills and have the opportunity to shape the direction of our organisation during an exciting period of growth. We have some Ordinary Committee roles available for 2024 with nominations closing 20th February! If you are interested in joining the committee, please email our secretary to request more information about the roles and nomination process. Please note that while this opportunity is extremely rewarding, it does require a significant time commitment and isn’t for everyone – have a read of the “How can I get involved as a volunteer?” document and consider which level of volunteering is right for your own circumstances and capacity. If you have the capacity, we welcome your nomination and would love to hear from you!

Not ready to apply yet but want to stay in touch? Complete the form below to be added to our mailing list and be contacted when opportunities arise. If you are interested in a specific role or opportunity, please specify.
